Leading marine electronics brand, Raymarine – a brand of FLIR Systems – has become an Official Supplier to Alex Thomson Racing. The announcement comes as the British ocean racing team have just launched their new IMOCA 60 race boat.
The partnership will involve the installation of Raymarine’s market-leading collision avoidance equipment and digital switching system onboard the new racing yacht.
Raymarine’s lightweight Quantum Doppler radar, with its power saving benefits, will support skipper Thomson in identifying marine traffic, crucial for when he races solo. The boat will also be fitted with a full Raymarine digital switching system, driven through Raymarine’s award-winning Axiom® multi-function displays.
Upon announcing Raymarine as an Official Supplier to the team, Thomson said: “Today, technology is more important than ever before in our sport. The technology onboard the new HUGO BOSS boat will be cutting edge, in every area.
“Having a reliable and lightweight radar onboard, which offers power saving benefits and works constantly away in the background, is a crucial part of that onboard tech. We look forward to working with the team at Raymarine as we prepare to launch, test and race onboard the new HUGO BOSS.”
