I had a very quiet night with light winds and a clear sky as I struggled to pass through the high pressure. This morning the wind started to shift to the south east and increase slightly which meant I …was starting to get through the light wind area and since then it has slowly increased all morning and I now have 10 knots of wind from the SSE. I am sailing with the Code 0 which is my largest light wind sail and will probably be changing it to my biggest jib (J1) later this afternoon.
My headache today is a couple of little birds that are trying to make HUGO BOSS their home. They get lost and end up out here in the middle of the Ocean and the boat becomes their last refuge. I always give them water and food and try to look after them but sadly, in the end they will eventually die out here from exposure. I say this from experience and no matter what I do to scare them away or try and look after them they hang around on HUGO BOSS waiting to be in range of land to leave me. Maybe they will stay with me until I pass by the Azores in a couple of days!
The weekend for me will be much like the weekend in the UK, wet and windy but I am looking forward to getting HUGO BOSS up to pace and making some good mileage towards the USA.
